How to apply for a conventional caveat for microloans.

Modified on Mon, 8 Jun at 11:16 AM

This service is designed to assist applicants seeking a loan of less than two million Rwandan francs from microfinance institutions and Saccos (MFIs/Saccos). It allows them to request that the National Land Authority (NLA) impose restrictions on their land.

The processing time is 7 working days, and the service price is 2000 RWF.

Prerequisites:

  • Ensure you have logged into your Irembo account before applying.

  • If you don’t have an Irembo account, learn how to create one here!

  • A valid phone number and, optionally, an email address.

  • The UPI must correspond to your Rwanda National ID or passport.

Follow these simple steps to get started with your application.

  1. To begin, go to the New IremboGov platform at new.irembo.gov.rw and log in to your account.

  1. Use the search bar to find the service or locate it in the “Land” category.

  1. Read the service description carefully and click “Apply”.

  1. In the first section of the application, you will be prompted to add the landowner’s information, including their identification document type and number, as well as contact details. Additionally, you will need to provide information about the land parcel to be restricted, which includes the plot UPI.

Note:

  • Ensure that the plot UPI is registered under the same identification document number as the one provided for the Land Owner’s information.

  • Upon adding the plot UPI, its information will be displayed below, including the plot size, land use, right type, and location. Information about the share percentage will also be shown.

  1. Select the Microfinance Institutions and Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (MFI/Saccos) by location, then click Continue.

  1. Take a moment to review and confirm your information.

Next Steps After Creating an Application.

  1. Payment:

  • Use your Bill ID to pay for the service using any of the methods provided in the “Payment options” section. After successful payment, a receipt will be available for download on IremboGov using your application number or billing number.

  1. When should you expect your land to be restricted:

  • Upon successful processing, you will receive a notification that your application has been approved and the caveat has been applied to your land. If you don’t receive an SMS notification about your application status within five (5) working days after submission, please visit or contact Irembo at 9099.
