How to apply for Confirmation of Inmate's Death in a Correctional Facility

This service allows applicants to request an official certificate confirming that an individual died while detained in a correctional facility. The certificate is issued in addition to the death certificate and serves as formal proof of the deceased’s inmate status at the time of death for use in legal, administrative, or insurance-related procedures.

• Steps to apply for this service

Step 1: Visit IremboGov at new.irembo.gov.rw and log in to your account. If you don’t have it, click here to learn how to create one.

Step 2: Under correctional service, select the “Confirmation of Inmate's Death in a Correctional Facility” service.

Step 3: Click “Apply” to start the application process.

Step 4: Fill in the inmate’s details

Step 5: Fill in the representative’s details.

Step 6: Upload the required documents in the correct format and click continue

Step 7: Verify that the information is accurate; enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click "create an application."

Step 8: An application number (C2...) to track your application status.
